“Excited to be back and I am enjoying the atmosphere in the dressing room. I was seeing matches on TV and wanted to be out there.

“I had belief in myself. I knew what I was aiming for and glad I was able to execute my plans today,” he added.

Talking about his strategy against the Aussies, Iyer said: “My plan was to play in the V and not complicate things. I was batting brilliantly in the nets. I’m happy to bat in any position. Whatever the team requires. Virat (Kohli) is one of the greats, there’s no chance of stealing that (number 3) spot from him. I just need to keep scoring wherever (at any position) I bat.”

The stand-in skipper KL Rahul said he was a bit surprised to see the wicket spin in the second half.

“When I saw the wicket in the morning, I didn’t think it would spin so much. Putting 400 on the board gives you confidence,” he said.

Virat Kohli’s Instagram story on Thursday in which he revealed his yo-yo fitness test score has irked the top bosses of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Indian team management reportedly came up with a strict guideline for all Indian cricketers hours after Kohli’s Instagram story went viral. The players were asked not to post their yo-yo test scores which come under confidential information, on social media platforms. The directive came from BCCI’s top management, reported The Indian Express.

The report claimed that all the cricketers currently present in a fitness and preparatory camp at Alur in Bengaluru before the Asia Cup were given the guideline “verbally.”

Through an Instagram story, Kohli revealed that he had passed the yo-yo test with a score of 17.2. “The happiness of finishing the yo-yo est between the dreaded cones. 17.2 done,” Kohli wrote along with a photo of himself. The BCCI-mandated fitness parameter is 16.5.

Not at all pleased by the public update, BCCI sprang into action almost immediately. They reminded the players revealing such confidential information on public platforms can lead to a ‘breach of contract’

“Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying in the report.

Star batter Virat Kohli on Saturday took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air over a recent report regarding his earnings from his official Instagram handle. A report on 2023 Instagram Rich List by Hopper HQ, a social media marketing solutions platform, claimed that Virat Kohli is the third-richest athlete on Instagram and the only Indian among the top 25 personalities in the world.

The report highlighted that Kohli earns a whopping $1,384,000 or over Rs 11.45 crore per post. However, the former Indian cricketer has shared that the report on his earnings is not true.

“While I am grateful and indebted to all that I’ve received in life, the news that has been making rounds about my social media earnings is not true,” he wrote.

With over 256 million followers on Instagram, Kohli is among the most popular sportspersons in terms of his online presence. He often keeps updating his followers about his life and cricket through pictures and videos of his sweating it out in nets or matches, or sharing pictures with his wife Anushka Sharma, who is a Bollywood actress.

Virat Kohli was named among the top 100 highest paid athletes in the world, and estimated to have a net worth of over Rs 1,000 crore, in a recent list by Sportico.

Kohli is currently on a break as India are playing a five-match T20I series in the West Indies. The veteran is set to be back for India’s campaign in the Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled to get underway later this month in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

With the help of half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) posted 181/4 at the end of 20 overs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

“7000 runs is just another milestone during the journey of what I am trying to do for my team. It is a nice number when you try to do something for your team,” Virat said after the innings.

“(On his childhood coach watching from the stands): it is a special moment, Anushka (Sharma) is here, my family is here, my coach is here. I was honoured with getting a pavilion named after me. I started my journey here and started playing for Delhi here. I never imagined all these things would come there and there is gratitude for all this. I want to put my head down and continue to work hard,” added Kohli.

On having his family in the stadium, Virat said, “I have said it from day one that having Anushka around has been special for me. Having her around and now our daughter as well. It makes make feel like normalcy is around, and cricket is a part of life but that is the real deal. It is special when she comes to watch. My brother and other family members are here as well, so it is special.
