Taylor Swift cheers for Travis Kelce at Chiefs vs Jets game with Sophie Turner, Blake Lively, more

Welcome (back) to MetLife Stadium.

Four months after Taylor Swift rocked the New Jersey venue on her Eras Tour, she returned to support rumored beau Travis Kelce as his Kansas City Chiefs take on the New York Jets.

Swift was spotted arriving to the stadium on Sunday evening along with pals Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and Sabrina Carpenter.

The “Anti-Hero” singer — who wore high-waisted denim shorts, a black leather jacket and black boots — was also flanked by her brother, Austin, as they made their way to their seats.

Once inside, Swift was back to last weekend’s antics and cheered her heart out from a VIP suite.

Kelce’s mom, Donna, and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, also chatted with the musician and her pals.

The outing came just hours after Kelce was seen leaving Swift’s NYC apartment following a morning hang.

Swifties had debated the Grammy winner’s possible presence at the football game after her appearance at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., went viral last week.

As reports surfaced that she “plan[ned] to be in attendance,” ticket prices began to skyrocket.

“Would it be cute or psychotic to buy jets-chiefs tickets for this sunday in hopes of seeing taylor swift at metlife,” one Twitter user asked.

Another called the game their “only chance to see Taylor Swift at MetLife this year.”

Many pointed out that the songwriter “must really like Travis Kelce” to support the tight end at back-to-back games.

News broke in September that the duo had been “hanging out,” two months after Kelce spoke publicly about attempting to give Swift his number.

Badminton World Championship: Vitidsarn preys on Prannoy’s restlessness as Indian settles for a bold bronze

As brilliant as the second set 4-0 lead with an injection of pace was for HS Prannoy, his constant pushing of the accelerator was a dead giveaway that he wanted this World Championships semifinal wrapped up in two sets.

His opponent Kunlavut Vitidsarn loves to bide his time and go after the attacking players’ desperation to finish, and his patient game at the India Open had claimed Viktor Axelsen earlier this year in a similar way.

He has the strokes of his Thai hero Boonsak Ponsana, and the defensive resilience of another idol, Kento Momota, and he’s coached by Ratchanok Intanon’s coach Udom Luangphetcharaporn, so he’s trained to prey on the restlessness of opponents while he glides around the court and makes fluid strokes without getting hassled by pace.

At least 12 people have been killed in a crowd crush at a stadium in Madagascar’s capital Antananarivo, Prime Minister Christian Ntsay says.

Another 80 people were hurt during the opening ceremony of the Indian Ocean Island Games at the Mahamasina stadium.

“There were a lot of people at the entrance,” Red Cross official Antsa Mirado told the AFP news agency.

President Andry Rajoelina, who was at the stadium, said it was a “tragic event”, calling for a minute’s silence.

The Mahamasina stadium – with a capacity of nearly 41,000 – is reported to have been packed with spectators.

Footage has emerged showing a number of injured people sitting dazed on the ground. Other victims are seen being carried away from the stadium.

Set up in 1977, the Indian Ocean Island Games is a multi-sport event held every four years.

The participants are the island nations and territories of Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, the Maldives and Réunion.

In 2018, one person died and nearly 40 others were injured in a crush at the Mahamasina before the start of a Madagascar-Senegal football match.

Spain’s victorious Women’s World Cup side parade the trophy through the streets of Madrid on an open-top bus

Spain began their reign as Women’s World Cup champions by arriving home to a hero’s welcome on the streets of Madrid.

Fans packed the streets of the Spanish capital on Monday night as the victorious La Roja paraded through with the trophy on an open-top bus.

The players later got off the bus and took to a stage, where match winner and captain – who scored the only goal in a narrow 1-0 win over England in Australia on Sunday – was tossed up in the air by teammates.

The side had earlier touched down at Barajas international airport, where star defender Ivana Andres lifted the trophy as she walked off the plane from Australia.

It is the first time Spain has won the competition since its inception in 1991.

Even before Rinku Singh marked the guard for his first international knock, his six-hitting reputation preceded him. A group of excited teenagers waved a two-feet banner that pleaded: “One six this side please.” The gallery buzzed, anticipation bubbled, and a sweaty expectation filled the stands. It has been nearly four months since he muscled himself into their cricket consciousness with a five-ball-five-six heist for Kolkata Knight Riders against Gujarat Titans.

Djokovic storms back to beat Alcaraz for Cincinnati title

Novak Djokovic overcame a match point and stifling heat to beat world number one Carlos Alcaraz 5-7 7-6(7) 7-6(4) and win the Cincinnati Open in a heart-pounding thriller on Sunday.

Djokovic collapsed on his back and ripped his shirt open after triumphing in the nearly four-hour contest to get revenge for his loss to the young Spaniard in last month’s Wimbledon final.

“So much to say and so little energy,” Djokovic said while collecting his third Cincinnati Open title.

“It has been a roller coaster and definitely one of the toughest and most exciting matches that I’ve ever been a part of in any tournament.

“It did feel like a Grand Slam final, even more than that, to be honest.”

The Serb was hobbled by the intense humidity in the tail end of the first set, barely moving when Alcaraz hit a backhand winner to grab the opener.

Alcaraz raced out to a 4-2 second-set lead and it appeared he might cruise to the finish line as his 36-year-old opponent looked cooked in the Ohio sun.

But Alcaraz would produce a poor service game while leading 4-3 that included four unforced errors to give life to the world number two.

In the second-set tiebreak Djokovic saved a championship point and went on to force a deciding set after winning a 25-shot rally.

During the break before the third set, a frustrated Alcaraz pounded his right hand against the plastic drinks container next to his chair, requiring a medical time out to tape his finger.

In the decider, Djokovic broke for a 5-3 lead but would then squander two match points in the next game.

The drama would continue when Djokovic missed an overhead for 5-5 and the players would ultimately arrive at another tiebreak, which Djokovic won on his fifth match point of the contest.

Women’s World Cup: Heartbreak for England as Lionesses miss out on final glory after defeat to Spain

Spain won the Women’s World Cup for the first time after defeating England’s Lionesses 1-0.

England’s Lionesses have missed out on glory at the Women’s World Cup after being beaten 1-0 by Spain.

Closely missing out on repeating their success at Euros 2022, Sarina Wiegman’s team fought to the very end at a packed-out Stadium Australia in Sydney.

But a first-half goal by Spain’s Olga Carmona, who shot across Mary Earps into the far corner in the 28th minute, broke England’s hearts.

It is Spain’s first major international trophy and makes them the first European team to win the Women’s World Cup since Germany in 2007.

England had come close to taking the lead themselves in the 15th minute when Lauren Hemp’s shot hit the bar.

Two changes at half-time saw Lauren James and Chloe Kelly replace Rachel Daly and Alessia Russo for the Lionesses, as they tried to turn the game around.

Spain’s Jennifer Hermoso then missed a chance to double her side’s lead from a penalty – granted after a handball by Keira Walsh – after a heroic save by Earps, who dived to her left to save in the 69th minute.

James then forced a save from Spain’s goalkeeper from a tight angle a few minutes later, as England pushed for an equaliser.

Earps even went up to attack a corner in the dying moments for England.

But sadly, it wasn’t to be, as the Lionesses fell short at the final hurdle.

Play was also briefly disrupted during the first half after a protester entered the pitch before an England free kick. The man was swiftly removed by stewards.

‘Absolutely heartbroken’

Captain Millie Bright said the team were “absolutely heartbroken” at the defeat.

“We can say hand on heart we gave everything. Sometimes football goes for you, sometimes it goes against you,” she said.

Complimenting Spain as a “fantastic team” she said: “A lot of emotion… but I’m really proud of the team. To come this far, to play in the World Cup final, not many get to do that.

“This is not it for us, we’ll bounce back.”

Two men have died at an Ironman competition in Ireland.

The men, in their 40s and 60s, got into difficulty in separate incidents during the swimming leg of the race in Youghal, Co. Cork this morning.

They were removed from the water by emergency services but pronounced dead at the scene.

Irish police said they are investigating and the coroner has been notified.

The event had been postponed from Saturday due to flooding and bad course conditions after Storm Betty.

It consisted of a 1.9km swim in Youghal Bay, a 90km bike course and a 21.1km run.

The swim had already been cut from 3.8km due to poor weather conditions.

The race continued and competitors were allowed to finish despite the double tragedy in the first section of the race.

In a statement, the event organisers said: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of two race participants at the Ironman 70.3 Ireland, Cork 2023.

“During the swim portion of Sunday’s race, safety personnel provided immediate medical attention upon recognising the athletes were in need of assistance.

“We share our greatest sympathies with the families and friends of the athletes and will continue to offer them our support as they go through this very difficult time.

“We thank the safety personnel and first responders who worked quickly to provide the athletes with medical assistance.
