Protesters hit Ramaswamy campaign vehicle outside Iowa event

Grinnell Police Department confirm to FOX News Digital that a property damage incident occurred

Protesters rammed their car in the back of a campaign vehicle of Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy ahead of an event held in Grinnell, Iowa, Fox News Digital has learned.

A group of liberal protesters appeared outside Ramaswamy’s event at Saints Rest Coffee House on Thursday. Ramaswamy’s campaign told Fox News Digital a female driver of a blue Honda Civic and a passenger were yelling expletives at the GOP hopeful, giving him the middle finger and blaring the car horn.

The driver later hit the rear end of the campaign’s parked SUV and drove off, though the campaign could not definitively say whether it was intentional.

Grinnell Police Department confirmed with Fox News Digital that police were called to the scene over a property damage incident.

Moments after the incident, protesters not involved in the hit-and-run were seen heckling Ramaswamy as he was entering the coffee house. One called him an “a–h—” while advocating for public schools. Another shouted “protect trans kids” and a third told him “climate change is real.”

“Anyone else have something to say?” Ramaswamy said to them.

“What’s it like being the punching bag of the RNC?” one protester asked.

“Well I think the RNC is corrupt. I think both political parties are pretty corrupt,” Ramaswamy responded.

Another protester shouted, “My mom’s a public school worker and she deserves to be paid and respected!”

“I think every person deserves to be respected but we are failing to do right by our kids in this country,” Ramaswamy replied. “Our achievement gap versus other countries is bad and we’re all in that together.”

“But here is what I will say: The beauty of this country is that you all have the right to express your opinions and you’re doing it peacefully. And even though I disagree with you, I’m proud of you for expressing your views even if I disagree with you,” he continued.

The protester then accused Ramaswamy of wanting to “destroy her job and her livelihood,” something Ramaswamy quickly rejected.

“I do want to fix our public schools though. So thank her for her service for me. I really mean that,” Ramsawamy told the protester. “But we also have to focus on how we’re going to improve achievement of our kids. And I think with your mom, if she’s as earnest as you’re describing, I’m sure she cares about the same thing, we’re not getting there with the existing system we have. So we’re gonna have to find a better way to do it. And one of the ways we’re going to do it is through open debate. You guys are doing your part. I’m gonna do mind. Keep it up.”

‘Everything will be fine soon’: Manipur CM Biren Singh assures as protest over teens’ bodies continue

Manipur, stricken by ethnic violence and rampant protests since 3 May, erupted after a seeming lull, when images of two teenagers who had been missing for months, surfaced online as dead bodies, murdered. The two teenagers’ death triggered fresh violent protests , this time involving participation from Manipur’s student community.

On Saturday, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that the armed assailants, visibly blurred in the viral images will be captured. “Definitely, we will catch the culprits. Everything will be fine soon,” Manipur CM said on the CBI team investigating the death of the two youth.

Continuous protests in Manipur that began on 3 May, had led to the state government to suspend mobile internet services for five days till 1 October.

A CBI team, led by the agency’s Special Director Ajay Bhatnagar arrived in Imphal in a special flight on Wednesday to investigate the alleged “kidnapping and killing” of the two students.

In cases registered or transferred to the CBI, teams have to visit the scene of the crime, recreate the scene, collect forensic evidence, and send it to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory.

“To ensure speedy investigation and keeping the safety of CBI officials on priority, CRPF personnel will accompany them during their visits in violence-hit areas for investigation purposes,” the official added.

The two youths had reportedly gone missing in Manipur on 6 July.

Following the incident, fresh protests erupted in the state on September 25 after a video showing their bodies went viral on social media.

At present, CBI has registered 11 FIRs, including the viral video of two young tribal women paraded naked. The investigation of all the cases is underway.

Authorities relaxed curfew in Imphal East and Imphal West districts from 5 am to 11 am to help people buy essential items and medicines on Friday. With no violence reported during the day, the government lifted the curfew in the two districts from 5 am to 2 pm on Saturday.

Khalistan Radicals Stop Indian Diplomat In UK From Entering Scotland Gurudwara

The incident comes months after the Indian High Commission in London was attacked by pro-Khalistani forces. The United Kingdom has assured of necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the Indian High Commission in London and its staff. “Let me be very clear about this. This is not an Indian problem in the UK. Whenever there is radicalisation in the UK of UK citizens, this is a British problem. And so any attempt to radicalise any UK citizen in any direction will be dealt with by the British government,” British Security Minister Tom Tugendhat said.

A group of Khalistan radicals stopped Indian high commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami from entering a gurdwara in Scotland on Friday. The Indian diplomat was stopped outside Glasgow Gurdwara on Albert Drive. Vikram Doraiswami reportedly had a meeting planned with the gurdwara committee.

In March, India reacted angrily after pro-Khalistan elements attacked the Indian High Commission in London and pulled down the national flag from a pole at the front of the building.

While the UK has acknowledged India’s concerns over Khalistan radicals in that country, Canada continues to provide safe havens to these anti-nationals.

Last week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that “agents of Delhi” were involved in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who is also a Canadian citizen. India has outrightly rejected the claims, calling it ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’.

Thousands march in Brussels on anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death

Iranian emigres marched in Brussels on Friday, the eve of the first anniversary of the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian woman whose death in the custody of Iran’s morality police sparked months of anti-government protests.

Thousands of demonstrators, holding up pictures of Amini and many others killed in the protests, called for the overthrow of Iran’s theocracy and the establishment of a democratic republic.

Organisers said they had also demanded a unified European Union policy to hold Iran’s Shi’ite clerical rulers accountable for abuses.

The protests that followed the death of Amini, arrested for allegedly flouting the Islamic Republic’s mandatory dress code, spiralled into the biggest show of opposition to the Iranian authorities in years.

Over 500 people including 71 minors were killed, hundreds injured and thousands arrested, rights groups say, in unrest that was eventually crushed by security forces.

Karnataka Farmers On All-Night Protest Over Cauvery Water

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has planned to travel to Delhi today to discuss the Cauvery water issue.

A group of farmers in Karnataka are holding a night-long candle-light vigil to protest against orders to release of Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu. The protest in Mandya — near Srirangapatna — started this morning. Their objection is to the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee’s recommendation that Karnataka release 5000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu for the 15 days. Independent MLA Darshan Puttanaiah, who is backed by the Congress, has joined the protest.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has planned to travel to Delhi tomorrow to discuss the Cauvery water issue.

Tamil Nadu has gone to the Supreme Court, which will hear the state’s plea to direct Karnataka to release the water.

Karnataka has filed an affidavit claiming that the Tribunal’s order was based on the assumption that it was a normal monsoon in the state, which it was not.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that the state cannot afford to release water, since it will empty the reservoirs and cause drinking water scarcity.

South Korean protesters call for government action on Fukushima water

Japan has started dumping the water from the Fukushima nuclear plant north of Tokyo into the sea.

SEOUL: Protesters gathered in the capital of South Korea on Saturday (Aug 26) to demand that the government take steps to avoid what they fear is a looming disaster from Japan’s release of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Japan began dumping the water from the plant north of Tokyo into the sea on Thursday despite objections both at home and abroad from fishing communities and others worried about the environmental impact.

“We will not be immediately seeing disasters like detecting radioactive materials in seafood but it seems inevitable that this discharge would pose a risk on the local fishing industry and the government needs to come up with solutions,” said Choi Kyoungsook of the Korea Radiation Watch group that organised the rally.

About 50,000 people joined the protest, according to the organisers.

Japan and scientific organisations say the water, distilled after being contaminated by contact with fuel rods when the reactor was destroyed in a 2011 earthquake and tsunami, is safe.

The utility responsible for the plant, Tokyo Electric Power has been filtering it to remove isotopes, leaving only tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen that is hard to separate.

Japan’s fisheries agency said on Saturday fish tested in waters around the plant did not contain detectable levels of tritium, Kyodo news service reported.

South Korea has said it sees no scientific problems with the water release but environmental activists argue that all possible impacts have not been studied.

Thousands gather 60 years after Martin Luther King’s ‘dream’ speech

The 1963 march brought more than 250,000 people to the nation’s capital to push for an end to discrimination on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex or national origin.

Thousands of Americans converged on the US capital to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, a pivotal event in the 1960s civil rights movement at which Martin Luther King Jr gave his galvanising “I have a dream” speech.

The 1963 march brought more than 250,000 people to the nation’s capital to push for an end to discrimination on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex or national origin. Many credit the show of strength with the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Organised by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and other civil rights groups, this year’s march takes place at the Lincoln Memorial, the backdrop to King’s impassioned call for equality.

Margaret Huang, the president and CEO of the Southern Poverty Law Center nonprofit civil rights advocacy group, told the crowd on Saturday the march 60 years ago opened doors and spurred new tools to fight racial discrimination.

But new laws throughout the country that “claw away at the right to vote” and target the LGBTQ community threaten to erase some of those gains, Huang said.

“These campaigns against our ballots, our bodies, our school books, they are all connected. When our right to vote falls all other civil and human rights can fall too, but we’re here today to say ‘not on our watch.’”

Kimberle Crenshaw, executive director of the African American Policy Forum, said the anniversary occurred at a troubling moment.

“The very history that the march is commemorating is being not only challenged but distorted,” Crenshaw said, referring to bans in several states on books and classroom instruction based on so-called “critical race theory”, which views a legacy of racism as shaping American history.

Navjot Singh Sidhu walked out of Patiala Jail on Saturday, 10 months after he was convicted in a road rage case. Soon after his release, the Congress leader addressed the media and launched an attack against the ruling BJP over the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha.

“There is no such thing as democracy right now. There is a conspiracy to bring President’s Rule in Punjab. Minorities are being targeted. If you try to weaken Punjab, you will become weak,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.

He launched an attack against the BJP, saying that the saffron party-led government was “afraid”.

“Whenever a dictatorship came to this country, a revolution has also come and this time, the name of that revolution is Rahul Gandhi. He will rattle the government,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Saturday.
