Afghanistan cricket team received a congratulatory message from legendary Sachin Tendulkar who praised the team for their stunning performance in the T20 World Cup which saw them beat the likes of Australia and New Zealand and make their first-ever T20 World Cup semifinal appearance. Rashid Khan later gave a humble reply to Sachin’s tweet.
Afghanistan’s march to the semifinal is no fluke. The team had also delivered a stunning show in the ODI World Cup last year and missed a semifinal berth by a whisker but went on to beat teams like England, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Pakistan. They almost handed Australia a huge defeat, however, Glenn Maxwell came to the team’s rescue. This was not the case when the two teams met in the T20 World Cup as Afghanistan knocked Australia out of the tournament.
“Afghanistan, your road to the semi-finals has been incredible, overcoming the likes of New Zealand and Australia. Today’s win is a testament to your hard work & determination. So proud of your progress. Keep it up,” wrote Sachin Tendulkar in a post on X.
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan took note of Sachin Tendulkar’s appreciation and humbly thanked him for the warm post. “Thank You, Sachin Sir,” responded Rashid Khan.
