The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha commenced on Monday, June 24, with the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Members of Parliament, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to address a joint session of both Houses on June 27. This marks the inaugural session of the Lok Sabha following the general elections held from April to June. In this 18th Lok Sabha, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) holds a majority with 293 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 240 seats. The Opposition’s INDIA bloc has 234 seats, with the Congress party holding 99 of these.
