The veteran Kohli got to his hundred off 180 balls and also made his 500th international match a memorable outing.

Kohli scored his previous overseas Test hundred when he scored 123 runs against Australia way back in December 2018 at the Perth Stadium. In the same month, he scored 82 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Since his last overseas Test hundred, Kohli has scored seven half-centuries.

Prior to this, Kohli had ended a significant drought of centuries in Test cricket in March 2023. He scored his 28th Test century against Australia, amassing a total of 186 runs. This century came after a gap of 1,204 days and 41 innings since his previous one against Bangladesh in November 2019.

Kohli has faced various international teams in his Test career. He has scored eight Test hundreds against Australia, making him the second-most successful Indian batsman against this team. He also performed well against England, South Africa, and New Zealand, scoring five, three, and three centuries respectively.
