Now, Batting Legend Sachin Tendulkar to Raise Voter Awareness as ‘National Icon’

Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar is gearing up for a new innings with the legendary India batter set to be named as a ‘National Icon’ by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Tendulkar will join hands with the national election body to create awareness and educate the citizens of the country to vote.

“Cricket legend and Bharat Ratna awardee Shri Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar would begin a new innings – as the ‘National Icon’ for voter awareness and education for the Election Commission of India,” ECI said in a statement on their official website.

Tendulkar will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ECI for a period of three years during an event to be held at the Rang Bhavan, Akashvani in the national capital on Wednesday.

Chief Election Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Shri Anup Chandra Pandey and Shri Arun Goel will also be present at the occassion.

ECI hopes to leverage Tendulkar’s popularity among the Indian youth to increase “voters’ participation in the forthcoming elections, especially in General Elections 2024.”

Tendulkar is widely regarded as one of the greatest batters to have played the game. He retired from international cricket as its most prolific run-getter in history and remains the only batter to have scored 100 centuries.

Joe Root Equals Sachin Tendulkar’s Record in Tests; Surpasses Rahul Dravid and Brian Lara

Joe Root joined legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar in an elite list when the Englishman played a game-reviving knock on Day 3 of the fifth Ashes Test, underway at the Oval. Coming to bat at a crucial stage, Root scored 91 runs off 106 balls, helping England reach 395 runs in their second innings. With the brilliant knock, Root rounded off the home Ashes as the second-highest scorer for the hosts, following opener Zak Crawley. In five matches, Root has aggregated a total of 412 runs. This is the 19th time when the English batter has breached the 300-run mark in a red-ball series. Previously, Tendulkar was the only player to score 300-plus runs in a Test series 19 times.

With this exceptional feat, Joe Root also surpassed the likes of Indian legend Rahul Dravid and West Indies great Brian Lara. They have crossed the 300-run mark in a Test series 18 times during their careers. Former English batter Alastair Cook and ex-Australian captain Ricky Ponting are next on the list, achieving the feat 17 times. Thanks to this accomplishment, Root has no doubt solidified his stature as one of the finest Test batters of the present generation.

Joe Root pulled off an impressive start to the home Ashes series. He was England’s star performer with the bat in the opening Test, which they lost by 2 wickets. He played an unbeaten 118-run in the first innings when the other English batters failed to bring out their A-game. He continued the rhythm in the second innings but missed a half-century by just 4 runs. Root’s batting, however, looked quite pale in the following two games. He returned to his iconic form in the fourth Test again and registered a 95-ball 86 during England’s first innings.

A Pune- based fin-tech startup was duped of over Rs 50 lakhs by cyber fraudsters in the names of 95 celebrities including cricketers and Bollywood stars. The modus operandi was to obtain PAN card details from their GST Identification Numbers available online, replace the photo on the PAN cards with that of the fraudsters and then they got credit cards issued in the name of the celebs.

The credit cards were issued in the names of celebrities, including Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Abhishek Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Madhuri Dixit, Emraan Hashmi, Saif Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan among others by the startup FPL Technologies Pvt Ltd which issues ‘One Card’.

Here’s how they did it

The fraudsters forged PAN and Aadhar cards putting their own pictures on them for video verification. The tech-savvy fraudsters left the original PAN and Aadhaar numbers and the date of birth intact and uploaded the forged PAN card/Aadhaar card on the fintech app and the online system fetched the details online from the Credit Information Bureau India Ltd (CIBIL) based on the original PAN.

The Delhi Police arrested all the five accused identified as Puneet, Mohd Asif, Sunil Kumar, Pankaj Mishar and Vishwa Bhaskar Sharma.

Delhi Police Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range), Chhayya Sharma said the accused forged government IDs of the celebrities to dupe banks of over Rs 50 lakhs.

“The loophole in the documentation and backend verification was exploited by the seamsters. All IT experts were very well aware that the first two digits of GSTIN are state codes and the next 10 digits are PAN numbers. Since the celebrities’ date of birth is available on Google, these two — PAN and date of birth — complete the PAN details,” explained a top Delhi Police official monitoring the investigation. He further added that the gang had access to all financial history from Credit Information Bureau India Limited (CIBIL).
