Shiv Sena (UBT) President Uddhav Thackeray criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his family during a meeting with party office bearers in Mumbai on Saturday. Thackeray made an indirect reference to PM Modi’s family and stated, “Before speaking about dynasties, one should learn how to take care of one’s own family.”

He expressed his thoughts during a program called ‘Hou De Charcha’ (Let People Speak).

Thackeray continued, “In recent days, we have been accused of promoting dynastic rule. However, those who have neglected their own families won’t understand the concept of dynasties.” He also mentioned, “We have united to oppose autocracy,” referring to the opposition alliance.

Bal Thackeray was also against some of the BJP’s policies: Uddhav Thackeray

Thackeray shared anecdotes about past agitations against cooking gas price hikes and informed party workers that his father, Balasaheb Thackeray, opposed certain BJP policies. He also took a dig at PM Modi, suggesting that those without a family history to discuss criticise others for protecting dynasties.

Thackeray advised party workers to prepare for early elections. “Someone informed me that the BJP has reserved all airplanes and helicopters in December. This implies that elections could be held around that period,” he remarked.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Friday said he warned Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin twice to keep an eye out for threats to his life.

Speaking to Belta, Belarus-owned news agency, Lukashenko said that the first time he warned was soon after the Wagner’s forces foiled a bid to march on Moscow to mutiny against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The first time was when I phoned him and negotiations (were taking) place while they were marching on Moscow,” Lukashenko said.

Lukashenko told Belta that he told Putin’s former caterer: “Yevgeny, do you understand that you will doom your people and will perish yourself?”

Prigozhin reportedly said: “I will die then, damn it!”

Lukashenko said the second time he warned Prigozhin during a meeting between him, Prigozhin and Dmitriy Utkin, a long-term lieutenant of Prigozhin.

Russian state media outlets this week showed footage of a private plane crashing into a field northwest of Moscow while en route to St. Petersburg. The plane was purportedly carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin, whose private army has been instrumental in the ongoing 2022 Russo-Ukrainian war.

Raghav Chadha found himself in the middle of a big controversy as five Rajya Sabha MPs on Monday demanded to move a Privilege Motion against the Aam Aadmi Party MP alleging that their “forged signatures” were added to the proposed select committee on the Delhi Services Bill without their consent.

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh announced a probe into the complaints. The select committee was proposed by Raghav Chadha in the Upper House to examine the bill.

Responding to the allegations, Chadha said, “Let a privilege committee send me a notice. I will give my answer to the committee.”

Chadha’s amendment to send the contentious bill to a select committee was negated by a voice vote. The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 seeks to replace an ordinance on the handling of transfers and postings of officials in the Delhi government.

Five MPs, who claimed their names were listed in the proposed select committee without their consent, are S Phangnon Konyak, Narhari Amin and Sudhanshu Trivedi of the BJP, M Thambidurai of the AIADMK and Sasmit Patra of the BJD.
