India beat England by 68 runs in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024, which was played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday (June 27). The win over England booked India’s place in the final and also helped Rohit Sharma break Babar Azam’s world record of most wins as captain in T20Is.

India beat England by 68 runs in the second semifinal of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday (June 27). In the match, which took place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, India rode on Rohit Sharma’s 57 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 47 to post a total of 171 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs, and then, in reply, dismissed the defending champions for 103 runs in 16.4 overs to win the match and book a place in the final. In the summit clash of the T20 World Cup 2024, India will face South Africa on Saturday (June 29) in Barbados.
India’s big win on Saturday helped Rohit Sharma create history and become the most successful captain in T20Is. The 37-year-old Rohit, who is the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to reach the T20 World Cup final, has won 49 out of 61 T20Is played so far as captain of the Indian men’s cricket team. The 49 wins have helped him go past Babar Azam’s tally of 48 wins.
Babar is now second on the list of captains with the most wins in T20Is. He has won 48 out of 85 shortest format matches played so far.
