Sarfaraz Khan’s father, Naushad, said that he wouldn’t want to blame anyone after the young Indian batter got run out on his Test debut against England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

On Thursday, February 15, Sarfaraz donned the India colours for the first time and raced to his half-century off 48 balls.

When he was looking good for a big score, he got run out against the run of play after a miscommunication with Ravindra Jadeja. | IND vs ENG, 3rd Test scorecard

Jadeja called for a single and Sarfaraz responded to his partner’s call. However, Jadeja backed out midway, after which it was too late for Sarfaraz to make his ground at the non-striker’s end.

Mark Wood pulled off a stupendous direct hit to pull the curtains down on Sarfaraz Khan’s brilliant knock. Skipper Rohit Sharma was also not happy as he showed his anguish inside the dressing room.

“It’s a part and parcel of the game. Sometimes, you get run out and sometimes in some other way. It was his luck and I would not blame anyone. If luck favours him, he will again score big,” Sarfaraz’s father told Aaj Tak.

Sarfaraz’s father was present at the venue, cheering for his son, and also made an appearance in the commentary box.

‘Feeling bad for Sarfaraz’

Sarfaraz scored 62 runs off 66 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes, helping India post a decent score of 326 for 5 on the board against the Three Lions.

Sarfaraz also stitched together a valuable partnership of 77 runs for the fifth wicket along with Jadeja, who went on to score his fourth Test hundred and complete 3000 Test runs.

On the run out, Jadeja dropped a post on his Instagram story, apologising for the mishap in the middle.

“Feeling bad for Sarfaraz Khan. It was my wrong call. Well played,” Jadeja’s Instagram story read.
