‘No breach in PM Modi’s security’: Police clarify after man runs towards PM convoy in Karnataka

A video showed a man running towards PM Modi’s motorcade during an election road show but he was intercepted by the police before he could reach the convoy. This was the second attempted security breach after a similar incident in the BJP-ruled state’s Hubballi district.

Bengaluru: Suspicions of breach in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security were raised on Saturday after a man was seen running towards the PM’s convoy when it was through Karnataka’s Davangere yesterday. However, the Karnataka Police clarified shortly after the inicident that there was no breach in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security.
A video showed a man running towards PM Modi’s motorcade during an election road show but he was intercepted by the police before he could reach the convoy. This was the second attempted security breach after a similar incident in the BJP-ruled state’s Hubballi district.

Senior police officer Alok Kumar on seeing the man try to breach the barricade ran towards him and intercepted him. A Special Protection Group (SPG) commando also ran after him.

Alok Kumar denied the reports of security breach and termed it an unsuccessful attempt. He tweeted, “As being reported in a section of media, there was no breach in security as such of Hon’ble PM at Davangere today. It was an unsuccessful attempt He was caught immediately by myself and SPG at a safe distance Appropriate action is being taken in this regard.”
