N Chandrasekaran, the current chairman of Tata Sons, was born in a farmer’s family in Tamil Nadu, India. He was born in 1963 in Mohanur in Tamil Nadu into a family of farmers. Chandrasekaran completed his bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences from Coimbatore Institute of Technology. He did his Master of Computer Applications (MCA) from the Regional Engineering College in Tiruchirappalli.
After serving at TCS for over 20 years, he was named the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TCS in 2007. In October 2009, N Chandrasekaran became the CEO of TCS when he was just 46. He became the chairman of Tata Sons in 2017.
