From Intern At TCS To Chairman Of Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran Life Has Come Full Circle

N Chandrasekaran, the current chairman of Tata Sons, was born in a farmer’s family in Tamil Nadu, India. He started his journey with Tata Sons in 1987 as an intern, and through his hard work and dedication, he gained the trust of Ratan Tata and became his right-hand man. When Ratan Tata stepped down, he appointed Chandrasekaran as the chairman of Tata Sons.

Not many know that Chandrasekaran was born into a farmer’s family. His dream run at Tata Sons began in the year 1987 when he joined the company as an intern. Who would have thought back then that he would one day go on to become the chairman of the same company? Over time he gained the trust of Ratan Tata as he was widely seen as his right-hand man. He was born in 1963 in Mohanur in Tamil Nadu into a family of farmers. Chandrasekaran completed his bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences from Coimbatore Institute of Technology. He did his Master of Computer Applications (MCA) from the Regional Engineering College in Tiruchirappalli.

After serving at TCS for over 20 years, he was named the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TCS in 2007. In October 2009, N Chandrasekaran became the CEO of TCS when he was just 46. He became the chairman of Tata Sons in 2017.
