Rohit Sharma was at his inimitable best as the India captain was engaged in on-field banter with his good friend Dinesh Karthik after the RCB star tore into the MI bowling attack in their IPL 2024 match at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. Rohit was heard teasing Karthik with a comment on T20 World Cup selection after the veteran wicketkeeper hit 53 of just 23 balls, helping the visiting side post 196 on the board in 20 overs even after Jasprit Bumrah picked up a 5-wicket haul.
During the change of overs in the first innings, Rohit Sharma was seen going toward Dinesh Karthik, who was batting in the middle, and engaging in banter with him. Rohit was impressed by the RCB star’s big-hitting show. Karthik, has been juggling commentary duties and professional cricket, smashed his first fifty of the IPL 2024 season, hitting 4 sixes and 5 boundaries. Karthik was the only RCB batter to hit a six against Jasprit Bumrah, who was nearly unplayable on Thursday night at the iconic venue.
“World Cup Khelna Hai, World Cup (He is looking to push for the World Cup selection. He has to play the World Cup),” Rohit was heard saying as it was caught on the stump mic. The clip of the banter between Rohit and Karthik went viral on social media.
