Lionel Messi was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2023 while Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t even among the top three players.
Right after Argentine superstar Lionel Messi won the Best FIFA Men’s 2023 award, beating Manchester City star Erling Halaand and his former PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t resist not leaving his mark on social media. Seeing Messi finish top of the podium despite an ordinary campaign, during the period for which the award was set, many fans were and pundits were left surprised. As Ronaldo took to Instagram to share a post, not long after Messi was crowned The Best Men’s Player, fans linked the message on social media to the Argentine’s triumph.
“Back for more!,” Ronaldo captioned his post on Instagram.

After sealing his eighth Ballon d’Or in 2023, the Inter Miami player has now been the first player to ever win the award while playing in the Major League Soccer (MLS), and his third time winning the prestigious award.
All the top three players, Messi, Mbappe, and Halaand did not attend the ceremony in London. The 36-year-old stayed in Miami for their first preseason game of the 2024 campaign.
Messi’s side Inter Miami will start their 2024 MLS campaign against Salt Lake on February 22. However, before that, they will square off against Al Nassr in a friendly match on February 1, which will see the iconic face-off between the Argentine and Cristiano Ronaldo.
