Animal box office collection Day 1: Ranbir Kapoor-starrer has surpassed the opening day collection of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan. While Pathaan earned Rs 57 crore, Animal has made Rs 63.8 crore.
Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal has had a tremendous opening at the domestic box office. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial opened to mixed reviews with many calling the film misogynistic but it seems that much like Vanga’s previous film Kabir Singh, this one has also found its audience. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs 63.8 crore nett in India.
The film’s global gross collection of the opening day stands at Rs 116 crore. In India, the film has earned the gross figure of Rs 76.1 crore and overseas, the film made Rs 39.9 crore.
The film had 1318 shows in the Delhi NCR region and witnessed an occupancy of over 79%. In Mumbai, Animal had 1040 shows and the occupancy rate was over 55%. In Telugu, however, the film had 316 shows in Hyderabad and the occupancy was over 82%. In Chennai, the Tamil version of the film had 88 shows and saw an occupancy of only 30%.
This year, the biggest opener so far has Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, which made Rs 75 crore across India on its opening day. So far, the second spot was held by Pathaan, which made Rs 57 crore on its first day but now, Animal has taken up that spot. Tiger 3 is next in line as it collected Rs 44.50 crore on its first day.
Animal has released alongside Vicky Kaushal-starrer Sam Bahadur which has only managed to bring in Rs 5.5 crore nett in India. It appears that Animal will overpower Sam Bahadur but the polarised response towards the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer could work in favour of Vicky Kaushal’s film.
