Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, June 21, led the celebrations of the 10th International Yoga Day in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. He was seen performing various asanas at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today led the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations on the banks of Dal Lake in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. In the past few years, the PM has led the celebration in various iconic places including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru, and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
International Yoga Day’s Importance:
Yoga is an ancient practice which has its roots in the Indian soil. The origin of Yoga dates a long time back in India but only recently it has gained a special identity across the globe. The International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21 to spread awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga. This day was identified by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who proposed to observe the day globally in the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2014.
