The woman was assaulted a few days after her son eloped with a girl and married her. Reportedly, the girl’s family was not very happy with the marriage, and therefore, they assaulted the woman when she was alone at home. A video of the incident has also gone viral online.
Punjab News: A 55-year-old woman was assaulted and paraded naked by her son’s in-laws after he got married against their wishes. The incident took place in Punjab’s Valtoha village. This comes a few days after four women allegedly beat up, stripped, and paraded a 30-year-old woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district. The women were later arrested after a video of the incident went viral online.
Meanwhile, the victim’s son had eloped with a woman and married her against her family’s desire. A few days later, on March 31, when the victim’s mother was alone at her home, her son’s in-laws allegedly assaulted her and tore off her clothes.
They paraded her in the village in a semi-naked condition, according to the complaint filed by the victim. A purported video of the incident has also gone viral on social media and as many as five people have been booked in the matter. Three of the accused have been identified as Kulwinder Kaur Mani, Sharanjit Singh Shanni, and Gurcharan Singh, according to the police as quoted by PTI.
The complaint was filed on April 3 under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 354D (stalking), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and no arrests have been made in the matter.
