Who was Sanjeev Jeeva, Mukhtar Ansari’s aide who was shot dead in Lucknow court

Sanjeev Jeeva, a dreaded gangster in Western Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead on Wednesday. Jeeva was a close aide of Mukhtar Ansari and was a co-accused in the murder case of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.

Sanjeev Jeeva, a notorious gangster from western UP, was shot dead on Wednesday inside a court premises in Lucknow. He was a close aide of gangster-turned Mukhtar Ansari. Jeeva’s name had cropped up in connection with the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. Mukhtar Ansari and his brother, Afzal, were named as conspirators in the same case.

WHO WAS SANJEEV JEEVA?

Sanjeev Maheshwari alias Jeeva was born in Adampur village of Nagar Kotwali area of Shamli district of UP. Sanjeev Jeeva entered the world of crime in the 90s.

He was part of several gangs, including Nazim gang in Haridwar, before he decided to form his own gang along with Satendra Barwala. It was then that he came in contact with Mukhtar Ansari and started operating his gang under Ansari’s protection. He became actively involved in criminal activities that were carried out in Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh.

Sanjeev Jeeva’s name had come up in connection with the murder of BJP leader Bramha Dutt Dwivedi in February 1997. Jeeva was sentenced to life imprisonment in this case.

His name again cropped in the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanad Rai and he was arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the case. He was lodged in Lucknow jail.
