Polling began amid elaborate arrangements in Telangana on Thursday morning, to seal the fate of nearly 2,500 MLA aspirants. The votes will be counted on December 3.
Polling was underway in all 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana on Thursday amid tight security arrangements. The process will conclude at 6 pm. A total of 3.17 crore voters in the state will decide the fate of 2,290 candidates (including 221 women and one transgender) from 109 national and regional parties. The votes will be counted on December 3.
According to the Election Commission, the state recorded 8.52 per cent polling till 9 am. Further, 20.64 per cent polling was recorded until 11 am, while 36.68 per cent polling was recorded till 1 pm.
The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is seeking a third term of governance based on the party’s performance and promises over the past 10 years. The Congress is talking of support in its favour to form its first government in the state, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is also promising to end the “misrule and corruption” of the BRS.

- Telangana is witnessing single-phase elections as voting began in all 119 assembly constituencies amid tight security arrangements on Thursday. Polling would be held till 5 pm in 106 constituencies, while it would conclude at 4 pm in 13 Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected seats.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his wife K Shobha voted in Chinramadaka village in Siddipet district.
Union Minister and state BJP president G Kishan Reddy, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao, his sister and MLC Kavitha, and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi were among other leaders who exercised their franchise in the initial hours of polling. Several film personalities, including Jr NTR, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh and Allu Arjun also cast their ballot.
- Clashes between workers of the Congress, BJP and ruling BRS were reported from polling stations in Jangaon and Khamman cities. The police reached the spot and there were no reports of any injuries to anyone.
