As Mumbai witnessed heavy showers on Thursday, the Andheri subway was closed to traffic due to a water-logging issue around 4:30 p.m.

The IMD has issued a ‘green’ alert for Mumbai, predicting moderate rainfall. “Light to moderate rainfall likely in Mumbai and suburbs today,” the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

Dhaval Shah, a resident of Andheri and co-founder of the Lokhandwala-Oshiwara Citizens Association, said, “The subway was closed by the authority around 4.30 pm. The work to de-watering the accumulated water started immediately. As there is continuous rain since morning, the water from nearby areas gets collected at the subway.”

The island city, eastern and western suburbs received an average rainfall of 42.25 mm, 47.22 mm, and 56.37 mm respectively in eight hours ending at 4 pm, the civic body’s data showed.

According to the BMC, a high tide of about 3.05 metres is expected to hit Mumbai at 4.43 pm today. Further, the BMC also stated that a low tide of about 1.67 metres is expected at 11.15 pm today.

Mumbai News: 3 Dead, 5 Injured After Fire Breaks Out In Santacruz’s Galaxy Hotel; Visuals Surface

Mumbai: Three people died while five people were injured in a fire that broke out in the Galaxy Hotel in the Santacruz area of ​​Mumbai on Sunday afternoon. Police and local authorities have rushed to the spot.

The blaze was reported on the third floor of the ground-plus four-storey hotel at around 1.17 pm after which four fire tenders and as many water tankers were rushed to the spot.

According to the fire brigade, the blaze was confined to electric wiring, electric installation, split AC unit, curtain, mattresses, wooden furniture of room number 103 and 203.

The fire was also confined to electric wiring in common electric duct, laundry cloths, and blankets from the staircase lobby from the first floor to third floor of the hotel.

The Fire was extinguished using three small hose lines, one high pressure first aid line. The fire was categorized as Level 1 and was doused at 3.20 pm.

Two persons identified as Rupal Kanji (25), Kishan (28) and Kantilal Gordhan Vara (48) were declared brought dead by VN Desai hospital authorities. Alfa Vakhariya (19) and Manjula Vakhariya (49) are injured and are under treatment,” he said.

Mumbai News: 2 Dead After Falling Inside Overflowing Manhole During Drain Cleaning Work In Govandi; Video Surfaces

The victims have been identified as Ramkrishna, a 25-year-old male, and Sudhir Das, a 30-year-old male.

A tragic incident took place on Saturday in Shivaji Nagar of Govandi when two individuals lost their lives while performing underground drain cleaning work. The unfortunate incident occurred as they fell inside a manhole.

The incident occurred on 90 Ft road, Road no 10, near the New Bus Depot in Govandi. According to information provided by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) and locals at the scene, two male individuals fell into the manhole of the underground drainage system. It was revealed that this unfortunate incident took place while private contractual workers were carrying out cleaning work. Further details are awaited from the concerned department.

An update on the incident was provided by Dr. Pravin Babar from Rajawadi Hospital. The victims have been identified as Ramkrishna, a 25-year-old male, and Sudhir Das, a 30-year-old male. Both individuals were declared brought dead upon arrival at the hospital.
