The Supreme Court on Monday took strong exception to the State of Uttar Pradesh filing appeals before it challenging directions to pay pension to retired government servants [State of Uttar Pradesh and Another v. Shashi Srivastava].
A vacation bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Rajesh Bindal was of the view that the State had made it a trend to challenge normal pension matters before the apex court.
“State coming to Supreme Court to stop somebody getting pension. What is this going on? Why are you stopping someone from getting pension. Every time State comes up against grant of pension,” Justice Oka orally remarked.
