A 26-yea-old Darjeeling resident, who was travelling with relatives, has alleged that she was molested by a fellow passenger mid-flight.
Indian airlines have been lately facing challenges to cope with unruly passengers’ behaviour. Incidents of such incidents have spiked in the last one year, now, a 26-yea-old Darjeeling resident, who was travelling with relatives, has alleged that she was molested by a fellow passenger mid-flight.
However, what came to shocking to many is that both the airline crew on board and CISF personnel at Bagdogra dissuaded her from filing a complaint. The alleged accused even admitted touching her inappropriately.
Both the airline crew on board and CISF personnel at Bagdogra asked the woman to not file the complaint saying that in the absence of any evidence, it would be her word against his and asked her to let him off with an apology. An airline spokesperson said the cabin crew promptly intervened to address the situation.
The woman, according to a report of Times of India, is currently preparing for civil services examination and was travelling by SpiceJet flight SG 592 on January 31. She was originally given an aisle seat behind the three seats occupied by her boyfriend, his mother and his ailing father.
The woman’s mother asked her to move to the row alongside as only one of the three seats was occupied. To this, a fifth-year student at a law school in Kolkata agreed to shift and gave the seat to the woman. However, he moved and sat in the middle seat, next to the one occupied by the woman, instead to the empty window seat.
