The seemingly simple world of kids can sometimes get complex beyond imagination!
Avinash Arun’s School Of Lies dwells deep into boarding school life, touching upon a bunch of issues that are generally brushed under the carpet. Along with the main storyline of a missing child run several other subplots in the Nimrit Kaur starrer web series. We watched the first two episodes of School Of Lies and here’s what we thought!
School Of Lies: Storyline
School Of Lies starts off with a glimpse of the day to day life in a boarding school named Rise. The children are divided house-wise and each house has a senior for the incharge.
While the children are introduced, we also get to know about Nimrit Kaur’s Nandita who is the Career Counsellor and Aamir Bashir’s Sam, the headmaster who shares a rather close bond with a bunch of senior boys in the school.
Sam is baffled when he comes to know that a kid named Shakti Salgaonkar has been missing from classes all day and cannot be found on the school premises. He alerts his gang of boys and informs his senior and Shakti’s mother. As the search for Shakti begins, so does the unearthing of a web of lies.
Has Shakti been kidnapped or did he run away on his own? Did the kid fall into the wrong company or was tricked into an evil plan by a notorious gang? School Of Lies promises to answer the question while simultaneously showcasing some hard-hitting truths about boarding school life.
School Of Lies: Performances
Nimrit Kaur fits the bill as a Career Counsellor trying to connect with kids while going through struggles of her own in her personal life. Her performance is subtle and layered and she makes you root for her.
Varin Roopani as a senior named Vikram surely understood the assignment. Although his character appears to be a bit mature for a school kid, he has done what he was asked for well.
Sonali Kulkarni as the mother of the missing child manages to express her despair and angst at once, whereas Aamir Bashir does a fine job as the headmaster trying to safeguard the school’s reputation while also trying to find Shakti.
School Of Lies: Direction
