Indian skipper Rohit Sharma created history on Sunday (January 14) during the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series between India and Afghanistan. The 36-year-old became the first Indian captain to win 12 bilateral T20I series and also equaled MS Dhoni’s record of winning 41 T20Is for India as captain in the shortest format of the game.
India beat Afghanistan by six wickets in the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series on Sunday (January 14). In the match played at Holkar Stadium in Indore, the hosts chased down the target of 173 runs in 15.4 overs for the loss of four wickets. For India, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 68 runs from 34 balls, and all-rounder Shivam Dube remained not out on 63 runs from 32 balls. With a second straight six-wicket win, the Men in Blue sealed the T20I series.
The second T20I in Indore was a special one for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. The 36-year-old batter became the first cricketer in history to play 150 T20Is. However, he was unable to open his account in the second T20I as well and got out for a golden duck. But despite a forgetful show with the bat for the second match in a row, Rohit created a new record on Sunday. He became the first Indian skipper to win 12 bilateral T20I series and also equaled legendary MS Dhoni’s record of winning 41 T20Is as India captain.
