Police said continuous efforts were being made by the farmers to break the barricades put up at the Punjab-Haryana border and impair law and order.
Haryana Police has initiated proceedings to seize the assets of farmers who have damaged public property during their ‘Dilli Chalo’ protest march.
In a statement, police said continuous efforts were being made by the farmers to break the barricades put up at the Punjab-Haryana border and impair law and order by pelting stones at the police.
Before the farmers had kicked off their protest on February 13, the Haryana Police had sent notices to the unions threatening to seize their assets if they damaged public property during their agitation. The notice said that if public property was damaged during the protests, bank accounts would be frozen and assets seized to compensate for the losses.
On Thursday, Haryana Police said two police officials died and over 30 have been injured in Ambala district during the farmers’ protest.
The police had initially said it would take action against the protesting farmer leaders under the National Security Act (NSA), 1980. The order was later revoked.
