Billionaire Mukesh Ambani has been appointed as a member of the Advisory Committee to the President of the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), according to an IANS report. Ambani joins other prominent global leaders on the COP28 Advisory Council, including Larry Fink, Chairman and CEO of BlackRock, and Olafur Grimsson, Chairman of the Arctic Circle and Former President of Iceland.
In January 2023, the UNFCCC Secretariat appointed Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy for Climate Change, as the President-Designate for COP28.
The UAE has been selected as the host for the 28th session of the Conference of Parties (COP 28) to the UNFCCC, scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 12, 2023, at Dubai Expo City. Ambani’s inclusion in the COP28 Advisory Committee reinforces India’s commitment to addressing climate change and its active participation in global climate negotiations. As a key figure in the business and energy sectors, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries will bring insights and contribute to shaping international climate policies and actions to mitigate the effects of climate change.
