The ongoing rift between the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Congress over the Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency had sparked intense speculation over Deora, the ex-MP of Mumbai South, defecting to the Shinde-led Sena. Deora had rebuffed such ‘rumours’ on Saturday.
Senior Congress leader Milind Deora on Sunday announced his resignation from the Congress, bringing his 55-year relationship with the party to an end. Deora is likely to join Chief Minister Eknanth Shinde’s Sena faction, people close to the leader told Times Now.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Deora thanked all leaders, colleagues and karyakartas for their unwavering support over the years.

Deora, however, added that he will take a decision after holding discussions with his supporters. “I am listening to my supporters…Haven’t taken a decision yet,” the former Mumbai South MP said when asked if he was chalking out a plan with his supporters.
