Voter turnout in the ongoing fourth phase of the Lok Sabha polls in 96 seats across nine states and the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir stood at approximately 40.32 per cent by 1 pm. Simultaneous polling is also taking place in all the 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and 28 Assembly seats in Odisha. The main focus of Monday’s high-voltage polls is on West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, where big ticket candidates like Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury are in the fray. Lok Sabha polls Phase 4: PM Modi thanks people for voting, says ‘mandate is with NDA’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said after the end of the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections that the mandate is “with the NDA for a strong, stable and development-oriented government”.
In a post on X, he said, “I thank the people who have voted today. It is abundantly clear that the people’s mandate is with the NDA for a strong, stable and development oriented government. In every part of India, NDA candidates are securing massive support. INDI Alliance is not even in any discussion among people.”
Notably, three more phases of the Lok Sabha are still pending and are scheduled on May 20, 25 and June 1. The counting of votes for the elections will take place on June 4.
