Kangana Ranaut has backed senior actress Hema Malini after the latter became a target of sexist remarks made by some political leaders. Kangana cited the example of ‘Vedas’ and asked those who passed the comment to ‘dug their own graves and bury themselves.’
Bollywood actress Hema Malini is known for her acting prowess and exceptional Bharatnatyam skills. The senior actress, who is also a BJP MP from Mathura, recently became a target of sexist remarks by politicians. The Sholay actress became a target of a leader who had said, “Why people elect their MLAs/MPs? So that they (MLAs/MPs) can raise the public’s voice. It’s not like Hema Malini, who was elected to lick.” While this statement was criticised a lot, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut who recently ventured into politics has backed the Dream Girl.

Reacting to the demeaning remarks towards Hema Malini, Kangana Ranaut said,”‘So how else should this be seen? If they see a young woman, they comment on her body parts. And a 75 year old senior woman, who is a classical Bharatanatyam dancer, is called Nachaniya or dancer and abuses like this. They don’t even leave an elderly woman, what kind of life do they want women to live in…it would be better if they dig their own graves and bury themselves in it?”
She went on to cite the example of the Vedas and said, “Such despicable thinking for a woman, that too for an artist who has dedicated her entire life to art. Not a single day would have gone by when he would not have practiced for 3-4 hours. Isn’t one of our Vedas, Samaveda, which discusses music and dance in detail? So, the thinking of those who make indecent comments on him by not seeing him as a knowledgeable person or a sage or a great personality is not hidden from anyone.”
