The EurAsian Times carried the report at a time when the two countries have been found in opposite corners on geostrategic issues. Diplomatic relation betwen Turkey and India have been at a new low over the past one decade.
The report – which comes at a time when the two countries have been found in opposite corners on geostrategic issues – found space in some news websites.
However, a Fact Check by Times Now revealed that the news information was incorrect. Both the Ministry of External Affairs and the Turkish Ambassador to India Firat Sunel have called out the information as incorrect.
“Your question regarding Turkey, we have seen some reports. As far as my knowledge is concerned and information is concerned, that information is not good. So I will refer you to please take that question to the Turkish Embassy who can for short give you an answer because it is a post which generated in Turkey. To my understanding, to the best of my knowledge, it is disinformation at best,” MEA spokesperson told Times Now.
