According to reports, Praveen Sood’s name was finalised for the post of CBI director, in a meeting attended by PM Modi, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Leader of Opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

Former Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood took charge at the new director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday (May 25), sources said. Sood is a 1986 batch IPS officer, who was appointed the CBI Director on Sunday (May 14), for a period of two years.
Sood replaced CBI Director Subodh Jaiswal as his tenure ended on May 25.
According to reports, Praveen Sood’s name was finalised for the post of CBI director, in a meeting attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Leader of Opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Praveen Sood took over as Managing Director of Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation in 2013-14. He also also worked as Principal Secretory in State Home Department, ADGP of Karnataka State Reserve Police and ADGP in Administration.
Ahead of the Karnataka assembly election in March, Congress leader DK Shivakumar had alleged that Praveen Sood was favoringthe Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. He had alleged that around 25 cases were registered against Congress leaders and none against BJP leaders while Sood was heading the Karnataka Police.
