Sir Elton John bid an emotional goodbye to Glastonbury fans on Sunday night by singing Rocketman to close the show.
Sir Elton John got emotional on Sunday night as he paid a moving tribute to his pal George Michael on what would have been his 60th birthday.
Before wrapping up his two-hour Glastonbury set, Sir Elton took a moment to speak about George.
“It is a very special day today and I was wondering how I was going to approach it,” Sir Elton began.
“One of Britain’s fantastic songwriters, singers, and artists was George Michael.
“He was my friend, he was an inspiration and today would have been his 60th birthday.”
He continued: “I want to dedicate this next song to his memory and all the music he left us with which is so gorgeous.
“This is for you, George,” Sir Elton concluded before singing Don’t Let The Sun Go Down on Me.
As Sir Elton concluded his last-ever UK show, he took a moment to thank his fans.
“I want to thank you all for dressing up in the costumes and the glasses it makes me feel so happy,” he shared.
