David Beckham compared “beekeeping tips” with the King when they met ahead of the former England football captain being named an ambassador for the monarch’s charity.

After reportedly meeting with King Charles in private last month, the former Manchester United footballer was confirmed as an official supporter of the King’s Foundation.

In a statement, Beckham said he has “always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons” and added he is “particularly looking forward to supporting the foundation’s… efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature”.

Pictures show the 49-year-old working with students taking part in woodworking courses, provided by the charity, at the Snowdon School of Furniture in Highgrove.

But while Beckham said the King’s work was “inspiring to hear,” he also said it was great to “compare beekeeping tips” with the monarch.

During the UK’s COVID lockdowns, Beckham developed a passion for beekeeping, and has since posted videos of himself working on his hives for World Bee Day.

In May last year, Beckham presented the monarch with a jar of honey he harvested at home while at the British Fashion Council Foundation Impact Day 2023.
