Body of 16-year-old Kota student, missing for 9 days, found near forest

The body of Rachit Sondhia, a 16-year-old student preparing for the JEE exam in Kota, Rajasthan, was discovered in a nearby forest eight days after he went missing.

The student was missing since February 11.

The body of a 16-year-old entrance coaching student, who had gone missing from Rajasthan’s Kota nine days ago, was found in a nearby forest region, the police said on Monday.

The student, Rachit Sondhia, who was preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), had been missing since February 11, after he left his hostel for the coaching centre.

He was last captured on CCTV entering the forest area near the Gardiya Mahadev Mandir.

The CCTV footage showed him taking a cab to the temple area, from where he was last seen entering the forest area, police said earlier.

Police had recovered a note from Sondhia’s room which mentioned his plans to go to the temple.

Sondhia’s bag, mobile phone, room keys, and other belongings were found near the temple earlier by the police.

An intensive search operation was launched by police and SDRF teams to find the student, who was originally from Madhya Pradesh.
