BJP veteran LK Advani hospitalised again, condition stable

Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani has been admitted to Apollo Hospital. He has been kept under observation, and his condition is stable, said the hospital. He has been admitted under Dr Vinit Suri, senior consultant, Neurology.

The details of Advani’s illness were not known immediately, news agency PTI reported.

Earlier last week, the 96-year-old leader was admitted to the AIIMS hospital due to age-related health issues.

At AIIMS, the former deputy Prime Minister was examined by a team of doctors from different specialities, including urology and geriatric medicine, and had undergone a minor procedure before getting discharged on June 27.

“Advani was admitted for an old-age-related issue and has been discharged,” the AIIMS official said in a statement.

Earlier this year, President Droupadi Murmu conferred Bharat Ratna, the nation’s highest civilian honour, on the BJP’s veteran leader. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other senior leaders. The event was held at Advani’s residence in the wake of his declining health.

Who Is LK Advani?
Born in Pakistan’s Karachi on November 8, 1927, Advani served as the BJP’s national president for several years. His political journey spanned three decades, during which he held important positions, including Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 1999 to 2004.
