All ‘demented’ Donald Trump’s recent blunders – from forgetting Melania’s name to Biden praise error

Donald Trump’s increasingly regular slip-ups are laced with irony, considering his repeated attacks on “incompetent” and “ageing” Joe Biden.

But the ousted former President appears to be making a growing number of verbal mistakes as his attempt to return to the White House gathers pace. Dropping howler after howler in the past few weeks, the presidential candidate has seen his own mental state called into question.

His painful errors came as Dr. John Gartner, a psychologist and former professor at the Johns Hopkins University Medical School, delivered a damning verdict on both politicians. He argued that it is actually Trump and not President Biden who is showing diminished mental acuity and argues it is her who voters should be worried about.

As reported in Salon, he said: “Not enough people are sounding the alarm, that based on his behaviour, and in my opinion, Donald Trump is dangerously demented. In fact, we are seeing the opposite among too many in the news media, the political leaders and among the public. There is also this focus on Biden’s gaffes or other things that are well within the normal limits of ageing.

“By comparison, Trump appears to be showing gross signs of dementia. This is a tale of two brains. Biden’s brain is ageing. Trump’s brain is dementing.” Here, MirrorOnline takes an in-depth look at his recent howlers as questions continue about his suitability to stand once again.

Melania mishap

We’ve all had a slip of the tongue but getting his own wife’s name wrong? Donald Trump could be in the dog house.

He appeared to call Melania ‘Mercedes’ during a chaotic speech in Washington. Trump addressed the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference, and gave the former First Lady a standing ovation. He went on to say how “people love her” during the keynote speech before adding: “Oh look at that Mercedes, that’s pretty good” he said as the audience applauded.

Remember, it’s not November!

Those pressing for power must know their diary inside out. Especially when it comes to demanding people get out and vote.

Addressing the country on Saturday, the presidential candidate said: “We need you to get out and vote to set the stage for November. Go vote – November 27th. Remember this, that’s a date that is very important.”

Only problem is the Michigan primary is in February, not November.

Backing his rival

He clearly didn’t mean it, but Trump appeared to back Joe Biden after his car crash conference.

“Biden, he’s more experienced, more predictable, he’s a politician of the old formation,” warmongering Russian President Vladimir Putin said. “But we will work with any US leader whom the American people trust.”

Suggesting he agreed with Putin and would rather see Biden in the White House again, Trump took everyone by surprise.

He said “He did announce the other day that he’d much rather see Biden as president, and I agree with him.” Rather than correcting himself he powered on with the speech.
