Two children were swimming in the lake when they started drowning. Three other children present on the spot jumped into the lake to save them, but also drowned.
At least five children drowned in Krishna Sagar Lake in the Botad district of Gujarat on Saturday. According to reports, two children were swimming in the lake when they started drowning.
Three other children present on the spot jumped into the lake to save them. However, they also drowned. All the deceased are minors. Locals informed the police at around 4:30 pm.
As soon as the police reached the spot, a rescue operation was carried out, but the children could not be saved. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
