The Forest Survey of India (FSI) has issued numerous fire alerts to Uttarakhand, underlining the severity of the situation.
Uttarakhand has been witnessing an unprecedented spree of forest fire incidents across the state for the last few months. The mounting fire has claimed yet another life in the hill state, taking the total death tally to five in the last three days. A 28-year-old Nepalese labourer, identified as Pooja, succumbed to her burn injuries on Saturday. She was trapped while trying to douse the blaze near a pine resin factory in Almora district, where he sustained critical injuries.
Pooja’s husband had also died while trying to blow out the fire in the same incident. Two other persons were killed in this incident.

3 Arrested From Bihar For Promoting Forest Fires In Chamoli:
Uttarakhand Police on Saturday nabbed three Bihar residents for promoting forest fire incidents in Chamoli. The accused have been identified as Brijesh Kumar, Salman and Shukhlal. The police action came after a viral video, in which the miscreants were talking about promoting fire incidents. “Nobody challenges those who play with fire and Biharis are never challenged,” a youth could be heard saying in the viral video.
The trio has been booked under Section 26 of the Indian Forest Act 1927 and several other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
CM Dhami Holds Review Meeting:
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting with officials and asked them to develop a mechanism to curb forest fire incidents in the state.
Rain Alert From May 7:
Bikram Singh, the director of the Meteorological Center in Dehradun, said rainfall was likely to take place in the state between May 7-8, with a predicted intensification from May 11 onwards. He mentioned that this rainfall could potentially aid in quelling the ongoing forest fires. Singh further noted that the rain is expected to commence in the Kumaon region on May 7 and in the Garhwal region on May 8.
