Maliwal, the AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP and former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), went to the Civil Lines police station and alleged that a close aide of Arvind Kejriwal assaulted her on the chief minister’s directions at his official residence. Police have not yet received a formal complaint.
She alleged that Bibhav Kumar from Kejriwal’s personal staff attacked her, sources told CNN-News18. The police said the first call came around 9.34 am following which the AAP leader came to the police station and said she will later file a formal complaint in the matter.
“We received a PCR call at 9:34 AM wherein the caller said that she has been assaulted inside the CM residence. Accordingly, local police & SHO responded to the call. After some time, MP Swati Maliwal came to the police station civil lines. No complaint was given by her. In this matter, no complaint has been received till now,” said DCP (North) Manoj Meena.
“Lady caller is saying that I am at CM residence. He instructed his PA to attack me,” read the police register entry, accessed by CNN-News18.
WHO IS BIBHAV KUMAR, KEJRIWAL’S CLOSE AIDE?
He was sacked in connection to a 2007 case against him for “assault and use of criminal force to obstruct a public servant from doing his duty”. In February, meanwhile, he was also summoned by the ED in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
BJP HITS OUT AT AAP
Slamming the AAP over Maliwal’s allegations, union minister Rajeev Chandrashekar said: “Don’t forget this is same Kejriwal who also assaulted the chief secretary IAS officer.”
Amit Malviya, BJP IT cell head, said Maliwal was silent on Kejriwal’s arrest and was not even in India back then. “AAP RS MP and former DCW chief Swati Maliwal alleges that Delhi CM’s PA assaulted her. Call made from Delhi CM’s House. Remember, Swati Maliwal had maintained radio silence on Kejriwal’s arrest. She was in fact not even in India at that time and didn’t return for a long time,” Malviya wrote on X.
