The giant hoarding collapsed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area on Monday due to heavy rain and dust storm. The billboard had collapsed on the Police Ground fuel station along the Eastern Express Highway, killing 16 people and injuring dozens others.
Afterwards, the Mumbai Police registered a case against Bhavesh Bhinde, whose firm had installed the hoarding, for culpapble homicide.
Bhinde has 23 previous criminal cases against him. In January this year, a rape case was also registered against him at the Mulund Police Station.
He was arrested by the Mumbai Police on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, experts believe that the weak and poor foundation of the hoarding’s pillar caused it to fall.
