Mittal was arrested on Tuesday in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar in a Maruti Esteem car that he had stolen from Shalimar Bagh
Dhani Ram Mittal, also known as ‘Super Natwarlal’ and ‘Indian Charles Sobhraj’ in police records, has earned a notorious reputation as one of India’s most learned and intelligent criminals. Believed to be a law graduate, a handwriting specialist, and a graphologist, Mittal despite his numerous qualifications, chose a life of theft as his means of livelihood.
Over the course of nearly six decades, Mittal amassed a shocking criminal history with a record-breaking number of arrests and the theft of over 1000 cars. His modus operandi involved stealing cars in broad daylight, primarily in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and surrounding areas.
However, one of Mittal’s most astonishing crimes involved orchestrating a temporary holiday of an additional session Judge.
For this mastermind plan, Mittal used some false documents and sent the additional session Judge of the Jhajjar court on a two-month holiday. After that Mittal, himself sat on the chair and freed over 2000 criminals. The criminals he freed, however, were again hunted and put behind bars.
It is also believed that he heard his own case and delivered a judgement on the same. Before the authorities understood what was happening, Mittal had already fled.
