Kolkata Knight Riders’ final over hero Harshit Rana was fined 60 percent of his match fees following his angry send-offs for Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klaasen during the thriller against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ final over hero in the thriller against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Harshit Rana, has been fined 60 percent of his match fee for the angry send-offs he gave to both Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klaasen during the match in Kolkata on March 23. The young Indian pacer was the star for the Kolkata-based franchise as he delivered a fine final over to ensure his team won the match and kept the SRH side at bay.
Harshit, who ensured KKR got over the line with a fantastic 20th over, did have a couple of run-ins during the match with SRH batters. Notably, he gave Mayank Agarwal an angry send-off early in the second innings before doing the same for Heinrich Klaasen in the final over. His dismissal of Mayank and the celebration was criticised by Sunil Gavaskar on commentary.
The IPL released a statement saying that Harshit had committed two Level 1 offences under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and was fined 10 and 50 percent of his match fees respectively. The statement also said that the pacer accepted the Match referee’s sanctions.
“Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Harshit Rana has been fined a total of 60 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on March 23.”
