In India, it is a common practice for customers to receive complimentary coriander leaves (dhaniya patta) when buying vegetables at the local markets. This exchange is so customary that it often happens without any verbal request – the vendors just include the coriander leaves automatically. However, this tradition doesn’t translate to grocery delivery platforms. Recently, an X (Formerly Twitter) user shared his dismay on social media about this issue, mentioning that his mother was particularly unhappy about having to pay for coriander leaves with a vegetable order on grocery platform Blinkit.
Ankit Sawant also tagged Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, in the post, suggesting that Blinkit should consider including coriander leaves for free with a certain minimum purchase of vegetables.
“Mom got a mini heart attack because she had to pay for dhaniya on Blinkit. @albinder- mom is suggesting that you should bundle it for free with a certain amount of veggies,” he wrote on X.

Albinder quickly noticed Ankit’s post and promptly acted on the suggestion. Retweeting Ankit’s post, Albinder wrote, “It’s live! Everyone please thank Ankit’s mom. We will polish the feature in the next couple of weeks.” Along with the message, he shared a screenshot of the Blinkit order page, where coriander leaves were now listed as a “free gift” alongside the other vegetables ordered.

Albinder’s swift action to include this feature gained significant traction online, amassing over 430,000 views. Many users praised Albinder for his prompt response, expressing their admiration in the comments.
One user humourously commented, “This dhaniya update is worth a billion dollars in market cap. 5% higher closing tomorrow.” Another highlighted the impressive use of social media, stating, “By far the one of the most impressive usage of Social Media ( X specifically ) and fast implementation by the company. Betting big time on Zomato & Blinkit!”
