John Abraham recently slammed actors for endorsing ‘paan masala’ and stated that he would never ‘sell death’
Actor John Abraham has made a name for himself in the Hindi entertainment industry with his action sequences and comic timings. Currently awaiting the release of his film Vedaa, he follows a disciplined health and fitness regime. He recently spoke up about the same on Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast The Ranveer Show. The Satyameva Jayate actor went on to slam actors for endorsing ‘paan masala’ and stated that he would never ‘sell death’ during his appearance on the YouTube show.
The 51-year-old actor explained how people often urge their followers to follow a fitness routine, but on the other hand, also endorse paan masala. He expressed that while he isn’t disrespecting his actor friends who do so, he doesn’t want to “sell death” as it’s a matter of principle. Quoted by the Hindustan Times, John went on to say, “Do you know that the yearly turnover for the paan masala industry is ₹45,000 crore? Which means that even the government is supporting it, and that’s why it isn’t illegal. You’re selling death. How can you live with it?”
For those who don’t remember, a few months ago Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, and Akshay Kumar were brutally trolled by the netizens for featuring in a paan masala advertisement. While the former two didn’t bat an eye to the trolling, Kumar issued an apology statement stating that he wouldn’t be partaking in such promotions any further.
