The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked one of its own officers for allegedly taking “undue advantage”. According to a report, Deputy SP BM Meena was booked for allegedly obtaining undue advantage from different people who were within the ambit of the investigation being conducted by him.
Meena is posted in the Bank Security and Frauds branch in Mumbai and the FIR alleges that he was utilising the services of middlemen for the transaction of the bribe money through a number of accounts and hawala channel, reported PTI.
Officials said the CBI follows a zero tolerance policy for corruption and other misdemeanour, and acts strictly against erring officers immediately. The agency said the message from Director Praveen Sood is clear that internal vigilance is prerequisite to external action.
The central probe agency has dismissed three officers under Article 311 of the Constitution without enquiry, the PTI report mentioned. Besides this, the CBI has sent five officials on compulsory retirement under the Fundamental Rule (FR) 56(J) of the Department of Personnel and Training service rules.
What Is The Case
According to him, the property papers showed an investment of Rs 1.78 crores and book entries showed transactions worth Rs 1.63 crores. He said the agency found several other incriminating documents and articles against Meena.
