Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its poll manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra’ with the tagline “Modi ki Guarantee”. The BJP’s 69-page manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra’ promises to cover transportation for common man- road, water or air.
Waterways
The party, if returns to power, promises the expansion of water metro services across the nation, wherever feasible. It also promises improving the connectivity and networks of water-based public transportation. As of now, India’s first water metro is functional in Kerala’s Kochi.
“We will integrate inter-ministry initiatives like the National Waterway Project, Namami Gange, the National River Conservation Plan, Jal Marg Vikas Project and Arth Ganga, among others, to double the share of Inland Water Transport in transportation,” the manifesto promised.
Roadways
The party’s manifesto promises to take PM Gram Sadak Yojana “to the remotest areas” and improve remote areas’ access and connectivity to healthcare and other government services.
“We will focus on further improving safety on roads through a series of techno legal interventions, training and behavioural change to improve road safety,” party’s manifesto said, adding that it will increase fleet of EVs and push more EV charging stations.
