Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film, The Delhi Files, was supposed to be released on August 15, 2025 (Independence Day). However, the director has now postponed the film’s release. For the unversed, Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in the lead roles, is also releasing on August 15. After the film’s release date announcement, Vivek Agnihotri postponed his film, The Delhi Files and said that the film is important for him, not the date.
Vivek Agnihotri confirms change in release date of The Delhi Files
In an interview with DNA, Vivek Agnihotri confirmed that The Delhi Files won’t come out on August 15. While explaining the reason behind his decision, the filmmaker revealed that they are running behind schedule.
Vivek Agnihotri said, “Humne last year announce kar di thi 15 August ki release date, lekin jab humne film shuru ki toh humare jo production designer the, Rajat Podar, unki death ho gayi. Toh humare plan postpone ho gaya. We are running behind schedule. I’m trying… toh dekhte hai abhi kya hota hai. Lekin agar 15 August nahi bhi hui toh uske aas-pass hi hoga, bahut zyada delay nahi hoga (We had announced 15 August as the release date last year, but when we started the film, our production designer, Rajat Podar, died. So our plan got postponed. So we are running behind schedule. I’m trying… let’s see what happens now. But even if it doesn’t happen on 15 August, it will happen around that time; there won’t be much delay).”

Vivek Agnihotri further clarified that The Delhi Files will be released around August 15, 2025. The Kashmir Files fame confessed that the date is not important for him. He is ready to release the film any day.
