Dehradun: Taking precautionary measures against COVID-19, the Uttarakhand government has made masks mandatory in public places from Friday. Expecting huge rush of tourists during Christmas and New Year, the Pushkar Singh Dhami administration has directed the health officials to conduct RTPCR test on patients coming to the hospitals with cold, fever and respiratory problems.
Uttarakhand Health Secretary in charge Dr R Rajesh Kumar held a review meeting with all the District Magistrates and Chief Medical Officers and stressed on early identification, isolation, testing, and management of suspected and confirmed COVID cases.
He directed all DMs and CMOs to send coronavirus positive samples to Government Medical College, Dehradun for genome sequencing. It would help to detect new variants of COVID.
The top health official asked the administration heads to make people aware and ask them to follow the Covid rules.
Uttarakhand is expecting a huge influx of tourists during Christmas and New Year weekends. The palces like Mussoorrie, Nainital, Dehradun, Mukteshwar and some other regions.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also asked the health department to launch a drive to administer booster doses of the Covid vaccine. The health department was asked to start holding COVID vaccination camps to administer booster doses to people from December 23.
