Israel has accused Hamas members of committing sexual violence since launching their ‘surprise attack’ on October 7. Authorities are investigating evidence, talking to witnesses, emergency medical workers.
On Monday , former Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg addressed the UN session. She said that silence on the issue is dangerous. “It threatens to undo decades of progress, to undo an entire movement. The world has to decide who to believe, do we believe the Hamas spokesperson… or do we believe the women?”
“Do we believe the Hamas spokesperson who said rape is forbidden therefore it couldn’t possibly have happened on Oct. 7? Or do we believe the women whose bodies tell us how they spent the last minutes of their lives?”
