Putin to Station Nuclear Weapons in Belarus for First Time in Decades

Russian President Vladimir Putin is stationing nuclear weapons in Belarus for the first time in decades.

The Russian leader announced the move to place tactical nuclear weapons in the neighboring Eastern European country on Saturday in response to the United Kingdom providing Ukraine with armor-piercing rounds containing depleted uranium, according to the Associated Press. Putin has falsely accused the U.K. of providing Ukraine weapons “with a nuclear opponent.”

The decision to place tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus comes more than a year after Putin announced his invasion of Ukraine, which has previously sparked concern over the potential for escalation into a wider conflict, including the use of nuclear weapons.

“I would like to highlight that, without breaking our international commitments on not spreading nuclear weapons, we already helped our Belarus colleagues to re-equip their planes. Planes of Belarus Air Forces. Ten planes are ready for using this type of weapon,” Putin said during a broadcast on Saturday. “We already transferred to Belarus our well known and very effective Iskander complex, and it can also be a carrier.”

As Putin’s war has faced widespread condemnation, Belarus has emerged as a key ally for Russia. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has publicly supported Putin, even allowing Russian troops to enter Ukraine from the Belarus-Ukraine border, providing closer access to the capital city of Kyiv.

Putin said that Lukashenko has previously suggested placing nuclear weapons in Belarus, while also accusing the United States of “doing this” for decades, according to Reuters on Saturday.

“They [the U.S.] have long deployed their tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of their allied countries,” the Russian leader added.

The move sparked condemnation from anti-nuclear advocates, who have long criticized Russia’s stance on nuclear weapons.

“As long as President Putin has nuclear weapons, Europe cannot be safe. He justifies this dangerous escalation by citing decades of NATO nuclear sharing,” Daniel Hoegsta, the interim executive director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), said in a statement to Newsweek on Saturday.

Experts believe the deaths of at least 39 high profile figures – ranging from oligarchs to scientists and even generals – could show the shadowy and bloodstained hand of the Kremlin.

Dozens of high profile figures have died since Putin launched his bloody war in Ukraine over a year ago – with many in odd circumstances, such as sudden “suicides” and falls from windows.

Sergey Grishin – the so-called “Scarface” oligarch who sold Meghan and Harry their California mansion – died this week from sepsis after criticising Putin.

And meanwhile Russian scientist Andrey Botikov – who created the “Sputnik V” vaccine – was strangled with a belt in his apartment last week.

Both men were two of the latest to join the staggering body count of high profile deaths of people linked to Mad Vlad.

Jon Sweet, a retired US Army Military Intelligence Officer, and Mark Toth, a national security analyst, described Putin as running “modern-day FSB version of Murder Inc.”

Murder Inc. was an organised crime group that operated in the US – and is believed to have been responsible for more than 1,000 contact killings in the 1930s.

“Anyone seen as a potential threat seems to have an attraction to an open window,” Sweet told The Sun Online.

Putin’s regime of course has never admitted to anything – and has always dealt with the deaths of their enemies with a wry smile.

Elon Musk humiliates Putin as Starlink becomes Ukraine’s most downloaded app

Elon Musk’s technology allows people access to access the internet, bypassing the network outages in the country – the tech billionaire has challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to ‘single combat’

Elon Musk’s Starlink app, which allows people access to a satellite-based internet service, has become the most-downloaded app in Ukraine, no doubt much to Vladamir Putin ‘s dismay.

The SpaceX CEO, 50, gave Ukraine access to the satellite-internet system Starlink, comprised of some 2,000 satellites designed to bring web access to under-served areas of the world.

It allows residents to bypass any internet outages, reports of which been rising across Ukraine since Russia invaded three weeks ago.

Figures show that Elon’s Starlink app has been downloaded almost 100,000 times in Ukraine, with global downloads more than tripling in the last couple of weeks.

The billionaire has challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to “single combat”, with the “stakes” being Ukraine, the Daily Star reports.

With Mr Putin’s name written in Russian and Ukraine written in Ukrainian, the Tesla chief executive tweeted: “I hereby challenge (Vladimir Putin) to single combat.

“Stakes are (Ukraine).”

Mr Musk tagged the Kremlin in a follow-up tweet.
